• Stephen and Grace are Married!

Anna went on her second out-of-state trip since she was born, this time hitting Delaware as well as Pennsylvania, where she had already visited Grandma and Grandpa. John and I were kicking ourselves for RSVPing yes to this wedding with Anna so young. On the whole, she did spectacularly well. She slept a good chunk of the way to the ceremony, and getting her out of her car seat and into a new diaper (and cute pink dress) was all she needed to calm down from no holds barred screaming towards the end of the ride. I expected to need to feed her, but halfway through looking for a good place to nurse her, we realized she was so excited to meet new people and see new things that she was content to wait. Here are some of the folks she met:

This is a good time to say that it was *wonderful* to be guests at a wedding where we trusted the photographers. Deb (Brundage) Cull is a college friend who married Matt Cull. Now they’re a husband and wife photography team. John usually brings a minimal set of lenses to weddings just in case the photographer doesn’t show or is absolutely terrible, in which case he considers taking a few shots to be a service to the bride and groom. We just brought one lens, figuring that if Deb or Matt got sick and asked John to take over, they’d let him use their equipment. If the photographer is decent, we consider it rude to take competing shots (for other wedding photographers–guests with a point-and-shoot are not generally a threat to profits from prints). Anyhow, the only pictures we took were to chronicle our experience, and any time Matt or Deb was taking pictures of something, we just enjoyed ourselves. If you know Grace and Stephen well enough to know Stephen (and now Grace’s) surname, you can check out their wedding photos here. If you want to play “where’s Anna,” You can find us with the groom and groomsmen on page 15, after they waved us into the room they were waiting in so they could meet Anna because we are such good friends that we were welcome though no one else was. The bride and groom dismissing us is on page 39. Our table shot with the bride and groom is on page 68, and our family of three dancing (as well as Kamesh admiring Anna) on page 74. Look for Anna’s pink dress.

We were seated at the Princeton nursing and pregnant mothers and their husbands table. It was pretty funny, and definitely marked a new life stage for us. Of the eight little ones who have already been born, three were there: Joshua, 7 month old son of David and Christina; Titus, 6 week (!) old son of Curt and Christina; and Anna. Christina over at Keddiebears got some nice shots, too, including a rare family photo. Thanks, Christina! We had a spectacular time, as did Anna, but all three of us are still trying to erase the car ride home from our memory…

      Dear Lucy and John,
I’m just seeing your blog and this post now! I’m glad you guys enjoyed the Pton baby table. :) And yes, I loved the shots that Deb and Matt captured. Looks like your duckling is growing very well, and it’s great that you can take a CCEF class! Take care! – Grace
